4 PILLARS

The innovation and agility of WISPA’s small- and medium-sized ISPs have reduced the digital divide and connected millions of Americans to reliable broadband services they otherwise wouldn’t have access to. Using the right tool for the job – such as fixed wireless access, fiber and satellite technologies – allows us to quickly and cost-effectively deliver affordable, future-proof connectivity to those in unserved, underserved, and marginalized areas of America. To help effectively connect more Americans, WISPA’s legislative and regulatory efforts are focused on four primary objectives:

BALANCE

Utilize balanced spectrum approaches which ensure small and rural providers have a fair shot at accessing airwaves that are critical building blocks for fast, reliable broadband.

NEED

Where government support is warranted, target funding to truly unserved communities through programs that are tech-neutral, cost-effective and can be easily accessed and administered by small providers.

ACCESSIBILITY

Provide fast and fair access to infrastructure for broadband deployments no matter the location, whether Federal, state, municipal or private.

COMPETITION

Keep small businesses competitive by easing regulatory burdens they face.

By embracing policies aligned with these four essential pillars – Balance, Need, Accessibility, and Competition – policymakers can harness the power of WISPA member companies to quickly and more cost-effectively connect more Americans to critical broadband service
