WISPA Thanks FCC Commissioner Nathan Simington for His Service
The following statement may be attributed to David Zumwalt, CEO & President, WISPA – The Association for Broadband Without Boundaries:
Washington, DC, June 4, 2025 – WISPA thanks FCC Commissioner Nathan Simington for his dedicated public service. Over more than five years at the Commission, Commissioner Simington consistently championed a light-touch regulatory philosophy focused on encouraging private investment and fostering innovation through the evolution of technology and market-driven solutions.
He was a strong and principled voice in opposition to efforts to reinstate net neutrality regulations, cautioning against treating internet service providers as public utilities. He likewise raised important concerns about the Commission extending its jurisdiction to encompass all personally identifiable information without clear statutory authority.
Commissioner Simington’s impact was especially evident in the area of spectrum policy, where he strongly advocated for more efficient use of spectrum and supported efforts to make additional commercial spectrum available for broadband services.
In short, Commissioner Simington’s work has helped shape a more dynamic and competitive broadband marketplace—one that continues to deliver meaningful benefits to consumers.
On this day as both Commissioners Nathan Simington and Geoffrey Starks announce their departures from the agency, we thank them for their leadership and wish them continued success in their future pursuits.
