Butch Evans Consulting focuses on network consultation and training.
Butch Evans has been an ISP since 1994 and has a vast amount of experience in building and maintaining ISP networks. He is familiar with the needs of ISPs from a network engineering perspective and can assist any ISP with the design and implementation of a network that is secure, responsive and reliable.
Butch Evans is well known in the WISP industry as a consultant for MikroTik’s RouterOS software, however, he is very familiar with a multitude of other gear as well, such as ImageStream, StarOS and Cisco routers and a multitude of wireless gear.
All of this experience is a huge benefit to those that attend a training course offered by WISP-Training (a partnership arrangement between Butch Evans Consulting and WISP-Router). Currently, we are offering two courses focusing on MikroTik RouterOS. Our Standard RouterOS training curriculum was originally developed in 2004 and was the first training course offered for WISPs to learn about MikroTik RouterOS. (We even beat MikroTik into the training
market.) We have been fine tuning that curriculum since that first class and our Standard Training curriculum is now a fully developed and mature product. More information regarding that course can be found on my website at http://www.butchevans.com/.
The second course, called “Security Focused Network Design using Mikrotik RouterOS”, is a 3 day course that covers some of the more advanced features of MikroTik RouterOS. This class is a very detailed look at what a network that is built with security in mind looks like. The format for this class is a little different from “traditional” technical training courses you may have attended in the past. We have been building this course for more than one year, so it, too, will be PACKED with information and ideas. If you’ve ever wanted to learn about what dynamic firewall rules can do for you or how to best secure a wireless network, then this is the course you’ve been waiting for. Some other topics include understanding how hackers get “on the inside” of your network, building a SECURE server network, detecting virus activity on the network and what to do about it and MUCH MORE!
You can look for additional courses from Butch Evans Consulting coming in the next year. We are actively working to assist network operators in understanding network principles as well as assisting them with engineering, maintenance and troubleshooting issues.
