LEADERS IN FIXED WIRELESS DECLARE THE STATE OF THE INDUSTRY IS STRONG DURING WIDELY ATTENDED SPRING SHOW

Birmingham, AL The state of fixed wireless broadband industry is strong and evolving, judging from the sectors widely attended Spring show, which took place March 6-8, 2018 in Birmingham, Alabama.
WISPAMERICA 2018, hosted by the Wireless Internet Service Providers Association (www.WISPA.org), attracted nearly 800 leaders from more than 400 companies from across the country. WISPA is a membership-driven organization dedicated to the advancement of the WISP industry.
Attendees had their choice of 42 educational sessions covering topics in business management, sales, marketing, and government regulations including a session from Google to discuss the companys new fixed wireless technology. To kick off the event, WISPAs Chairman of the Board, Chuck Hogg, offered a clear message that the state of the WISP industry is stronger than ever before.
2017 was a year of great progress for our industry, and 2018 is shaking up to be another great year, said Hogg during his keynote address. Hogg cited a recent report by the Carmel Group, which predicts that the number of U.S. subscribers and revenues of the fixed wireless broadband sector will nearly double over the next five-years, making it the fastest-growing broadband technology in the U.S.
On the final day of the event, Jimmy Carr, CEO of All Points Broadband and Chairman of WISPAs Legislative Committee, updated members on WISPAs advocacy efforts to protect the industry CBRS rules. This is critical mid-band spectrum, and we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to utilize it to close the rural broadband gap.
The conference also featured a sold-out exhibit hall with 87 vendors displaying their products and services in the areas of wireless gear, fiber-optics, tower infrastructure, software, cloud services, VoIP solutions, consultants, mapping services and more.
Ending the conference on a high note, WISPAMERICA attendees donated $14,000 in an annual silent auction. The proceeds will support Officer Jason Hare with the Hanceville Police Department located in Cullman County, Alabama. Officer Hare was severely injured in an on-duty traffic accident while driving his marked police cruiser.
