How to Start a WISP

How to Start a WISP

pioneer (verb): develop or be the first to use or apply (a new method, area of knowledge, or activity).

synonyms: introduce, develop, evolve, launch, instigate, initiate, spearhead, institute, establish, found, be the father/mother of, originate, set in motion, create, lay the groundwork, prepare the way, blaze a trail, break new ground

There are many factors that can influence the success or failure of a WISP - and equally as many definitions of what constitutes a successful WISP. Is providing a quality and invaluable service to your underserved neighbors what you would consider a success, or is your definition a bit more grandiose? That's a question only you can answer, but regardless of your goals, know that the decision to become a WISP is a decision to be a pioneer. It's a decision to resolve challenges in and for your community that no one else has satisfactorily resolved.

WISPA is an organization made up of pioneers that have each committed to delivering the best service to their neighbors - and some just happen to have thousands of neighbors in multiple states. Which ever is your aim, WISPA and its members are here to ensure you a fighting chance for success.

Good luck, we're rooting for you!
