 Feedback from this year's conference

  • ServerPlus: This was the best trade show we have ever attended.
  • I really like the show's setup with the booths, holding some of the presentations in the main floor and some at alternative locations.  Was encouraged to see a much larger turn out. Really enjoyed to hear the progress being made by our lobbying constituency.
  • Was my first time attending the show.  Very informative and excellent networking opportunity.
  • Overall, it was a positive experience.  The venue was nice, more than adequate space for all activities.  Having the vendors available was wonderful.  It was great to have the chance to talk with them and troubleshoot as well as get information on new products.  Sessions were mostly worthwhile (see my notes later).  Food was amazing.
  • Awesome.  Enjoyed the sessions tremendously.  The willingness of the WISP members to share their experience and knowledge throught the sessions and one on one during the week speaks volumes about the type of people they are.
  • Cambium Networks: Thanks for a great event!! Please sign us up as a Diamond sponsor for both WISPAmerica and WISPAPALOOZA 2013
  • Great show! Lots of opportunity to network with other operators and learn from others experiences.
  • Fantastic event, big hats off to WISPA and the companies who sponsored event!  Great Turn out and many booths!
  • Great show overall. Good hotel venue and value on rooms. Catered food was great (big surprise) Weak point was reliance on Grupio for schedule which failed to work 90% of the time I needed it, and missed out on some sessions.
  • I thought it was great.  Great location with reasonable choices and prices.
  • Extremely beneficial
  • It was great, I would like to see other venders as Imail and Smarter Mail.
  • Valuable meetings and great conversations!
  • Not as good as the one in Orlando. Not as many "good" Speakers.
  • ViaSat: We had a great time - great event!
  • 1000% better than last year.  Hotel was great, clean, food excellent.
  • Enjoyed the show immensely.  I enjoyed that we were teamed again with the UWC.  I liked the SouthPoint, the pricing was good and the venue was nice.  Content was excellent again this year. A few of the disappointments of the show (I know not all are in your control, and some of it is really nitpicking, but you said ...)  Wished the MUM could have been there again like it was last year.  Wish the event would have been on strip, didn't really feel like Vegas for me this year
  • The show was a success for us. The issue that I see with it was the layout. The rooms not being seperated made it hard at times to hear clients in the booth, trying to compete with the noises from the dinning area and speakers.
  • It's my 3rd wispa event and it just keeps getting better. I liked the new floor plan very much.
  • Some of the class speakers were not a good choice.  Offering sub par solutions particularly in the under 500 WISP class.  Discussion of using laptops as servers and other things.  Other then that, was an excellent experience and was overwhelmed with knowledge!  :)
  • Azotel: Overall excellent. My only recommendation would be to hand out a sheet of paper with a MAP of where all the vendors are located.
  • Great sessions....didn't care much for the barn yard odors.
  • Solid conference from learning perspective. Poor in traveling from Vendors to meeting rooms.
  • Overall, I found it beneficial to attend, both the conference sessions and the vendor exhibits.
  • Hotel was fine. The cowboys were a plus and the alarm a minus. Even with the new schedule style, I couldn't get to all the workshops and vendors I needed time for. This is a good problem—far better than irrelevance. Networking with unfamiliar WISPs is always a satisfying plus. I left WISPAPALOOZA inspired, educated, and recharged.
  • Enable Networks: I felt this show was a considerable improvement over last year's (which wasn't bad - good work Rick and Trina). Having provided the wireless, I would have liked a little more time to actually plan the implementation better (not WISPA's fault). Overall I think the venue was a great choice (and I am the first to admit that I was dead wrong thinking that being off the strip was a mistake).
  • Constructive criticism 1st: 1) Hotel marquees were misguiding. They did not represent what was really happening until several days in. 2) Grupio was a great idea but ultimately didn't work well. I lost my schedule several times so gave up. 3) Keynotes/Sessions in the vendor area sounded like a good idea as it allowed me to visit them easier and more frequent. However, the session was drowned out by vendor activity. 4) Registration was delayed right up until sessions were taking place. Very Bad! 5) Fewer vendors. Where did they go? 6) Fire alarm incident. Need I say more? Good Stuff: 1) Better than last year dispite the above. 2) The organization of everything appeared less chaotic.
  • Learned a lot. Great to see so many new attendees.
  • Worth attending
  • I thought it was a great conference. Nathan did an excellent job setting up the sessions. All that I attended were informative. Time flew in most of them, which indicates they were definitely worthwhile.
  • As this was my first WISPA event, I have to say I was rather pleased with the whole thing. I believe there were enough sessions and also enough breaks in between to let us have time to soak some of the info up.
  • For the most part, I think it was well done.  The organization could've been executed a little better.  This is probably more of a unique issue, but I found myself missing a lot of the sessions I wanted to attend due to conflicting sessions that I wanted to attend.
  • Great place to learn and meet.. would go again and again..  Classes too long and did not repeat so missed some important ones.. Take the long question period at the end out and repeat the class..
  • Trango Systems: Thanks again for putting on another great conference!  We were quite pleased overall and have no complaints.  The show worked out very well for us. Overall, we were pleased with the event, the location, the attendance and the sessions.  Session content was relevant, Exhibit hall in the keynote area was a good idea and worked well for us exhibitors.
  • When I showed up for the WISPAPALOOZA event my expectations weren't very high. Well I was BLOWN away. Extremely professional, very well run event. I learned a ton of information, built some great relationships. I gained a ton of respect for the WISPA Board and the speakers and presenters. I am very proud to be a member of WISPA. What an organization! Great job guys.
  • First time experience and will sign up again.
  • CostQuest: WISPAPALOOZA was a great opportunity for CostQuest to meet WISP's from states that we do the Broadband Mapping in (AL, ID, WI, and WY). While I was disappointed I didn't see more of my providers there, the ones I met were great contacts. Rick, Trina and staff did an outstanding job. Thanks for all the work. Having been involved in event planning myself for groups up to 300+, I know the work can be daunting!
  • Conference was good, guest speakers didn't show up at some meetings. So they had to wing it. It was too cold inside. Breakfast was lacking. Overall it was positive.
  • Streakwave: Our experience was excellent. The WISPAPALOOZA 2012 provided an oustanding platform for Streakwave to work with WISPs from all over the country. We were pleased to have exceptional traffic at this show and outstanding feedback from the wireless Internet service provider industry.
  • I felt this was the best show yet.
  • I loved the classes but could use a little more time to talk to the exhibitors, especially with the 50/50 drawing.
  • The sessions were good, the keynotes were sometimes tiring but a few were exceptional, the whole week was loooong, much was learned, but would have liked more audience participation/sharing avenues. Also the pool was not open late enough to go to without skipping sessions.
  • Wispapalooza was an excellent conference. The workshops were extremely rich in terms of their content and the subject matter was very timely.
  • ARC Wireless: I feel that it was a HUGE success!  I was blown away by the volume of attendees.  I thought the setup was perfect to help funnel traffic into our booth.  Having food and speakers in the same hall as our booth was set up was a very good move.  Great works guys!
  • Best show I've been to in 10 years.
  • Great event! Large crowd, great from a vendor perspective. Location was not ideal, but nice to have everything in one place
  • I personally thought this was one of the best shows I've worked. Very Productive for me... and went pretty smoothly Very happy and satisfied with the members of WISPA for all their hard work and dedication for doing such a wonderful job.
  • Overall the show was very good for me with a perfectly targeted audience and the right balance of exhibit hall info along with good, informative panels. Sharing the space with the PBR guys next door was a smelly experience, but did not ruin it. The fire alarms going off definetly did ruin a nights sleep, but not wispas fault.
  • KP Performance: Truly the best show as for attendance. It was a great show for exhibitors. There didn't see to be a dead time at all through the three days. The only complaint I did hear a few time over and over was the distance between the two locations.
  • It was very helpful and informative. I can't wait to see the video of the classes I missed.
  • This was my first conference with the WISP industry. My previous position was with an IT government contractor. While I was there I attended many conferences and honestly, none of them compared to WISPAPALOOZA. The transparency and willingness to share information is a trait that really sets the WISP industry apart. I enjoyed the sessions and the many networking opportunities that were given throughout the conference. Looking forward to next year!
  • ReadyNet Solutions: With what seemed to be over half of the attendees new to the show, we gathered a significant number of new leads. We were also able to interact with other vendors to forms strategic relationships. Great show!
  • Other than the fire alarm (which I'm not terribly concerned with), I thought it was great. I won't eat food provided by the hotel next time as something in their food did not agree with me. That's just a personal thing and i don't expect any changes because of it.    The conference was great! Lots of networking, some new non-wireless products, etc.
  • Fantastic.  Most useful conference I've ever attended.  Only negative was not being able to attend every single session.
  • ARC Wireless: Overall I was very impressed. The crowd was a good sized crowd, and having the classes and events all close by was very good. The only complaint I had was the exhibitor technical sessions. Those seemed to be hit and miss, and most attendees didn't 'get it'. It may be better to have a small training area right in the show floor area where the sessions take place, and vendors are announced. I found many people that wanted to attend our tech seminar but didn't see it on the schedule, and didn't know it took place.
  • This was my first time to a WispaPalooza show (although I did attend ISP America in Florida, the joint venture with FISPA). Everyone wants to talk about the Fire drill -- personally I think it sucked, but I'm surprised people want to drone on and on about it. **How do these people deal with day to day life if they can't handle a minor inconvenience? I enjoyed the sessions immensely. I had to leave Friday morning, and would have liked to have attended the sessions on that day (especially the IPv6 one) Travel time to get to Vegas is a bit hefty (15 hours total in my case, and it was similar and even longer for others), but I don't know that I heard anyone complain about it. I thought the SouthPoint was nice and clean, especially given the price. My main draw was WISPA not gambling... for others that was different, so I can't comment on "Needs to be closer to the strip" (since I didn't head out that way anyway). I came back home with ideas I'm looking forward to implementing. My ONE BIG PIECE OF ADVICE: If possible, get the slides up after the show sooner. It helps to keep some of the momentum going. (This can be hard, since some people work on their presentations up until the day of, but if they could possibly be released immediately following each talk it might lead to more conversation)
  • The venue was poor in my opinion. Rooms were not great, bathroom fixtures didn't work properly, poor TV selection, which would not have mattered if it didn't cost as much to get to the strip. The previous year was much much better in my opinion. From the rooms to the food, it was much better at the Flamingo. I may attend Wispapalooza again, but certainly will not be staying at South Point.
  • GREAT conference, learned a lot. Good lodging, good food, good speakers.
  • I learned so much during this conference that it pays me many time more than what it cost me... - The hotel was not good... Bad service..
  • Good conference. Interesting sessions and good vendor exhibits
  • I absolutely loved the conference this year.  I'd say it was on par with, or better than last year.  The whole fire alarm situation and how it was handled did disturb me slightly, but that aside, things were much enjoyed.
  • Invictus Networks: I really enjoyed the event and met a lot of old clients/vendors as well as many new ones. Being able to discuss our industry with everyone involved and all in one place is absolutely ideal.
  • Overall, I would say the conference was excellent. I liked that the vendor area was so close to the stage and seating. The interaction with other WISPs as well as vendors was great. It was definitely the best part of the conference. There were a few negatives that I will mention, but I do want to emphasize that the positives far outweighed the negatives. Biggest negative was the distance between the rooms for panels and the pavillion. It became an afterthought for several people around me to go to the panels because they would sit in the pavillion talking and not notice the time. 2nd biggest negative was the Streakwave speech. That was essentially a 45 minute pitch to buy from them and should not have been a keynote. It was my understanding the keynotes were to be at least somewhat educational while that one was a joke, and a little off-putting. 3rd negative was that some of the panels seemed a little forced. I would say that some of the people that took part in the panel were less qualified on the topic than the average person in the audience.
  • Alliance Corporation: Happy to see attendee list growing, with lots of new people. Also placement of the tradeshow floor was optimum.
  • This was the first time we have every attended. Now i have to ask what took us so long.
  • Excellent show! Nice balance of content. Attendees I spoke to seem pleased with the format.
  • Was an interesting introduction to the WISP organization.  I am not an engineer so that part was not my cup of tea.  The regulatory and business portions were very helpful.
  • Overall I thought that the conference was very informative. The location was good. The only negative would be that some of the sessions were repetitive.
  • Excellent content with infomative speakers.
  • This was my first Wispapalooza, and it was a wonderful experience. The ability to network, and discuss the positives and negatives of the WISP industry with others was the best experience for me. The venue and the catering made it easy to focus on the conference.
  • Great Conference, it keeps getting better each year
  • It was great!  Fantastic energy, great panel sessions content, good food (mostly), wonderful hotel (except for the cigarette smoke).  I really liked proximity of the exhibitors to the rest of the activity.  Breakfasts (excluding Board meeting day) were inadequate -- you should offer a selection of fresh fruit along with the pastries.
  • The technical sessions need to be geared towards WISPs of specific sizes.  Most of the sessions over the first couple days were too vague because the speakers were trying to speak to start-ups and WISPs of 5k+ all at the same time.    The breakouts for <500, 500-2500, >2500 were a good idea and should be continued in future conferences as WISPs grow there is more and more diversity in our business models.    More sessions on value added services!  The VOIP service breakout was BY FAR the most useful thing I attended.    Thanks!
  • Conference = outstanding!!!!! One of the best I've ever attended.  Love that sessions are taught by WISPs or experts in the field and not just vendors pushing products.  Topics were dead on with the needs of our business.  I really liked the vendor sessions as a separare focus.  They could have used more than 15 min.  Event center was not laid out well.
  • Enjoyed sessions and speakers.  The floor seemed weak.  I thought Orlando was a better venue.  I did not like the hotel - understanding you are trying to get a good deal...
  • Not enough power outlets. This was a MAJOR issue and my only complaint.  I enjoyed the booths and the speeches.
  • Learned a few things technical and operational, including HR.  Didn't learn anything useful about marketing.  Best thing was interpersonal networking.  Got a chance to know some of my vendors better, too.  Really don't like the pervasive smell of cigarettes at the conference center, but it's a lower negative.
  • Very good conference! I was a little disappointed with the location (distance from anything else)  I found that cab rides ended up costing more than it would have to be in a more expensive hotel.
  • Good overall.  The hotel really smelled and those false alarms were not pleasing, but not your fault.  Good setup overall and seminars.
  • Positive: exhibits and keynotes all in the same room.  Negative: exhibits and keynotes all in the same room.  Great point were it kept everyone together, Bad point was getting everyone to focus on one or the other.
  • Great show...5 days is a long time...if we could shorten by 1 to start that would be good...but not sure how to fit all that in with less time.
  • I felt this was one of the best conferences I have ever attended. Two things I would have liked different. The individual vendor sessions were fine but I went to none of them except I was still sitting in the dining area when Cambium started theirs so I just stayed.  I learned alot at that about Cambium.  Since I didnt get to here any others I am not sure what I missed. I wish that there was a way to see all of them and not extend the show or be at the same time as sessions.  The other issue was I wish there was a way to do the sessions closer to the Exhibit hall. I got tired of the distance.  Wasnt much different then the Flamingo but it would be nice if it were closer.
  • Good conference. The sessions of providers sharing tips was extremely helpful.
  • The conference was great, good information. Vegas is a good choice with easy flights and lower costs. Content was good but would be better done in 2-3 days. Facility was not impressive, having everything in one area is better than spread out this year. Vendor area should be separate from conference area. South Point was not very well kept and not impressive from a service standpoint.
  • Streakwave: WISPAPALOOZA 2012 was an outstanding gathering of our fixed wireless industry.  It was a great mix of both new and old and demonstrated that the field is both growing and thriving.  The WISPA team did an outstanding job of bring together education, news, vendors, and the best of providers/WISPs.  Great job!
  • I was overall very pleased with the Event... I thought it was probably one of the Best Venue's to date.   Would prefer it to be just a little closer to the strip though.  But on the opposite hand, It forced customers to stay a little closer to the site and enabled for more conversation.  The Cab Fare back and forth was just a little steep for those that wanted to experience Vegas though.  I think you guys did a FANTASTIC job with this one.  LOTS of attendees, and very positive feedback from me.  Not much negative I can express... except the smell of the Bulls, lol.
  • Great event!  Learned lots of new stuff and meet some great people!
  • The events was excellent, it was well organized.  It was great to be able to put a face with the people I talk to on a daily basis.  The workshops were so vaulable, being able to get advise from top people in their field was just an amazing experience and I chance to get input and ideals to bring my WISP to the next level.
  • Magnificently done.
  • It was Great!!  Learned a lot and meet a lot of great people.
  • This was my first WISP event. I enjoyed the key note speakers during the meals. The sessions where such a wealth of information and I'm glad that they were setup like they were.
  • The 2012 show was a huge success for us as attendees. The availability of vendors was also a plus.
