In new comments filed at the FCC, WISPA urges the Commission to reform broadband subsidies by rethinking its assumptions about all-fiber deployments in rural areas that underpin its cost model. WISPA also supports the goal of moving away from the current “100% overlap” trigger for phase-out of support for rate-of-return incumbents, and advocates for a simple reverse auction mechanism that makes support available to a broader range of providers once a lower competitive benchmark is reached.
