WISPA Member Rise Broadband Selected as Telecom Service Provider of the Year

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – November 30, 2017

Washington, DC -- Rise Broadband, a member of the Wireless Internet Service Providers Association (WISPA), has been named Telecom Service Provider of the Year by Fierce Telecom and Fierce Wireless in the annual Fierce Innovation Awards.

The Fierce Innovation Awards “recognize and reward the best and brightest operators, service providers and vendors for their commitment to next-gen business and consumer offerings.”

Rise is the nation’s largest fixed-wireless broadband provider, serving nearly 200,000 customers in rural and suburban parts of Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Rise’s rapid growth demonstrates the compelling value proposition of fixed wireless technology as the most cost-effective broadband-access technology, especially in last-mile and rural settings.

“Rise Broadband is a great example of the potential for fixed wireless technology to disrupt the current telecommunications status quo and to close the ‘digital divide’ by connecting more Americans to the internet,” said Mike Dano, editor-in-chief at Fierce Markets.

“We are honored to receive this recognition for our telecom industry leadership,” said Jeff Kohler, Rise Co-founder and WISPA Director.  “All of us at Rise are very proud of our innovative role in closing the digital divide in communities often undeserved by traditional wireline and cable carriers.”

“This award is an exciting validation of our industry,” said Chuck Hogg, Chairman of the Board of WISPA. “The judges had a choice among all kinds of wireless internet providers to honor and the fact that they chose a leader from our sector is proof that fixed wireless is a growing force among all telecommunications providers.”

Each of the award categories was judged by the Fierce Advisory Council, Fierce contributors, and the Fierce editorial team.
