WISPA THANKS AND CONGRATULATES RICHARD BERNHARDT
WISPA’s National Spectrum Advisor, Richard Bernhardt, was already one of the nation’s most credentialed experts on spectrum issues; but then this week he was selected to Chair the WinnForum Spectrum Sharing Committee’s CBRS Work-Group 5. First nominated by Lee Pucker of WinnForum, Preston Marshall of Google/Alphabet, and Kurt Schaubach of Federated Wireless, Mr. Bernhardt was then unanimously approved by the SSC Steering Committee of WinnForum.
“Richard is working really hard on WISPA’s behalf and we are grateful for all he does for our industry,” said Mark Radabaugh, a WISPA board member and chairman of the WISPA FCC Committee.
Already serving as chair of the Certified Professional Installer (CPI) Accreditation Task Group, a member of the Steering Group, and Co-Chair of WG-5, Mr. Bernhardt continues to work tirelessly for the advancement of Citizens Band Radio Spectrum (CBRS) initiatives while representing WISPA and its members on the SSC. In his new role as Chairman of WG-5, Mr. Bernhardt will oversee the SSC’s CBRS Operations Agenda.
The activities of the CBRS Operations Work Group (WG-5) include:
1) Defining the operational aspects for the FCC’s Certification Tests of SAS, ESC, and CBSD elements;
2) Administering the Certification Authority (CA);
3) Partnering with other organizations to implement a Training and Certification process for CBSD Professional Installers;
4) Developing and administering common databases for grandfathered Wireless Broadband Licensee system and FSS records, and Category B CBSD installation records; and
5) Developing specifications for non-automated/non-protocol based operational procedures.
Mr. Bernhardt also serves on WISPA’s FCC, Government Affairs, and Legislative Committees; and chairs the Spectrum Sharing Committee for the new Citizens Band Radio Spectrum (CBRS) to be used by the cellular, fixed, satellite and other communications industries nationwide. He is a recipient of the WISPA President's Award and is the CEO of Bernhardt Communications Co.
