WISPA Responds to State of the Union
Redding, CA (January 21, 2015)
– The following statement can be attributed to Elizabeth Bowles, Legislative Committee Chair for the Wireless Internet Service Providers Association (WISPA), a membership organization that promotes the development, advancement and unity of the fixed wireless Internet service provider industry.
“WISPA agrees with the President that the Internet should remain open.” said Elizabeth Bowles, WISPA Legislative Committee Chair. "But any new laws or rules must consider the impact on small businesses and rural communities under any regime, whether Title II or otherwise. Moreover, federal and state governments should be looking at more ways to support private investment in broadband infrastructure rather than relying on taxpayer funding to overbuild and compete with privately funded broadband networks. WISPA looks forward to working with Congress and the FCC as we further develop our Nation’s broadband policies.”
WISPA (Wireless Internet Service Provider Association) is a membership-driven trade association that promotes the development, advancement and unity of the fixed Wireless Internet Service Provider industry. WISPA has over 800 members that support WISPA’s advocacy, education and other collaborative industry initiatives. For more information, visit www.wispa.org
