WISPA has over 800 members consisting of wireless Internet service providers, municipal wireless Internet providers, electric and telephone cooperative wireless Internet providers, equipment manufacturers, service vendors and other interested parties.These members support the industry which delivers broadband Internet to over 3 million users via 3000+ Internet Service Providers (ISPs) that serve both residential and business customers, often in exclusively rural areas.

WISPA filed the attached letter with the FCC opposing Pennsylvania’s continuing efforts to apply a bidding preference for states where price cap carriers – in this case Verizon – turned down CAF support. If successful, Pennsylvania’s efforts would remove millions of dollars from the support amount that could be used in other states.


June 15, 2017

WISPA filed these two sets of Comments with the FCC today. They seek to even the playing field for wireline infrastructure – pole attachments, rights-of-way – and wireless infrastructure – towers, water tanks, etc. – even if the FCC decides to classify broadband providers as “information service” providers that would not otherwise be eligible for the protections of certain FCC rules.
