I want to say THANKS for making WISPAmerica 2019 one of the most successful events we have ever hosted. We had close to 1100 attendees from all parts of the diverse WISP ecosystem. 100-plus vendors, showing off the latest in technology, services and training. And more than 50 events and sessions from WISP industry experts, on subjects like network engineering, tower safety, grassroots marketing, social media, accounting practices, and, of course, regulatory issues.
During the course of the convention, you heard from FCC Commissioner, Brendan Carr, who talked about his visits to WISPs throughout America, the FCC’s CAF subsidy program, and the desperate need for Washington to clear out more spectrum for all players in the wireless ecosystem in order to close the digital divide.
You sat in awe as you listened to visionary Preston Marshall, who covered how the emergence of high-capacity, shorter-range, wireless broadband systems will create new hybrid, fiber and wireless models of broadband deployment rather than simply choices between fiber and wireless transmission technologies.
And you heard from WISPA’s DC team about what we’re doing in Washington for WISPs, and just how important it is to get active so we can more effectively educate policymakers on how their decisions critically affect our industry.
We had fun, too. Not only did we network through the day and into the wee hours of the morning, we attended great events, such as the Opening Reception and Game Night, as well as patronized the numerous other food and entertainment venues that the tremendous city of Cincinnati had to offer.
And perhaps most importantly, we gave back some of our good fortune. We helped five-year-old Reese Martin, who has been recently diagnosed with epilepsy, bravely meet her health challenges by donating $20,500 so she could acquire a service dog who will watch her and help her stay safe.
Again, THANK YOU, WISPA members! We couldn’t have done it without you!
And we can’t wait to meet again at WISPALOOZA in Las Vegas, this October! Be on the lookout for event announcements and hotel information, coming soon!
